Office 365 Login Restrictions
What’s happening?
Login to RDS and Office 365 will be restricted to logging in from the UK only.
When is it happening?
This is already in place and will remain indefinitely.
What does this mean for me?
Whilst we know everyone loves to check their work emails whilst sitting on the beach in Hawaii, you won’t be able to do this anymore. In fact, if you try to log in to Office 365 or Remote Desktop Services from outside of the UK you will be unable to do so.
It’s important to note that if you use a VPN to access the internet this may also cause issues as a VPN often bounces your traffic through servers that are not in the UK. If you have problems accessing school resources and you are using a VPN, try turning the VPN off whilst accessing our resources and this should resolve the issues.
The technical bit
Many hackers and unauthorised users of services are either abroad or use VPNs to access resources that they should not be, in order to hide where and who they really are. Because of this we are taking precautions to ensure that access from other countries is not allowed. This gives us extra protection and reduces our attack vectors.
