Enabling App Locker for Improved Security

What’s happening?

As part of our continued dedication to the security of our IT systems we will be introducing a new measure of security. This new measure prevents the running of unauthorised programs on the school system.

When is it happening?

Monday 28th March from 7am.

What does this mean for me?

Most, if not all of you, will notice no difference in the day-to-day operation of your machines. However, you may see the following pop-up when you try to run a program that we have not approved on the system:

If you see this screen and believe that the app should be approved, please raise a ticket through the IT Support App with the name of the app and we will look into allowing it for you.

We have made our best efforts in ensuring that all day-to-day apps are already approved prior to this to ensure a smooth transition for you.

The technical bit

This security measure strengthens our security and defences by ensuring malware, ransomware and other such nefarious applications are unable to run. Any application that the system does not recognise will be cancelled from running before it begins keeping you and your data safe and secure on our systems!
